A Naperville man will spend 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to molesting a young girl in St. Charles.
Thad W. Sugay, 23, most recently lived on the 1200 block of Chickory Lane in Naperville.
On Friday, he agreed with the Kane County state’s attorney to a sentence of 15 years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony. Kane County Judge James C. Hallock accepted the plea.
Between October 2008 and April 2010, Sugay had sexual contact with a young girl he knew when he lived with the girl’s family in St. Charles, according to the state’s attorney’s office. The girl was younger than 13 at the time of the contact, prosecutors said.
Sugay must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He was given credit for 252 days served in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest.
When he gets out of prison, Sugay must register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, with assistance from the DuPage County Child Advocacy Center.
