Wine tasting fundraiser: Meals on Wheels of Kendall County, whose mission is to provide meals to all seniors in need and to eliminate a waiting list, presents a Wine Tasting Fundraiser from 5 to 7 tonight at the Fox Valley Winery, 5600 Route 34 in Oswego. Cost is $25 per person, which includes five wine tasting tickets. The evening includes wine, appetizers, raffles, silent auctions and more. Broadway’s Next H!T Musical: Fermilab Arts Series presents Broadway’s Next H!T Musical at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Fermilab auditorium. Every lyric, melody and jazz hand is made up on the spot. The show’s first act is an award ceremony spotlighting songs from four “Best Musical” nominees based on audience-created song titles, and the second act is the entire musical based on the winning song from Act One. Abbey Farms Pumpkin Daze: Marmion’s Abbey Farms Pumpkin Daze, 850 Butterfield Road, Aurora, opens Saturday and will operate every weekend through Oct. 28. Open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sundays from noon to 6 p.m., and Columbus Day 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Opening day has a Kids Fun Run through the corn maze at 3:30 p.m. followed by the second annual Run For the Pink Twilight 5k at 4 p.m. Learn more about these races at www.active.com, keyword “Marmion.” General admission is $9 per person, kids younger than two are admitted free with a parent admission. Russian Masterpieces: The Fox Valley Orchestra, under the baton of Colin Holman, will open its third season with Russian Masterpieces, including works by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Stravinsky. The series opens at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles, and at 3 p.m. Sunday at Crimi Auditorium at Aurora University. Free Flights for Kids: Free flights in general aviation aircraft for children ages 8 thru 17, will be offered at a Young Eagles event, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday and Oct. 21, weather permitting, at the Aurora Municipal Airport, Sugar Grove. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to sign in. No reservations are needed. First-come, first-served. Each flight lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. Each Young Eagle will receive a personal photo and a logbook. The flights are sponsored by the Fox Valley Sport Aviation Association, EAA Chapter 579.
