AURORA — Two men have been charged after another was hit and dragged behind a car on Friday, police said Monday.
Sweed A. Strickland, 31, of the 0-99 block of North Loucks Street, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and mob action. Shawn D. Love, 30, of the 800 block of Bowditch Avenue, was charged with mob action, police said.
The two are accused of getting into a fight with a 33-year-old Chicago man around 8 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Second Avenue.
During the course of the fight, a witness said Strickland ran the victim over with his vehicle, dragging him for 10 feet, according to a police report. The victim then said Strickland attempted to back the car over the victim, but the man was able to get out of the way before being struck a second time.
Love and Strickland then left the scene in the vehicle Strickland was driving, police said.
Both the victim and Love were dropped off by acquaintances at an Aurora hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Strickland was taken into custody on Sunday without incident, police said.
