Two sent to hospital in two-vehicle crash

Two people were hospitalized after a two-car crash at 10:38 a.m. Saturday near Keslinger and Hinckley roads, the sheriff’s office said. Driver Kelso Kuipers, 22, 16200 block of Route 38, Maple Park, and passenger Tyler Newhouse, 22, 1700 block of Littlerock Road, Plano, were taken to Kishwaukee Hospital; no reports on their conditions were available. The other driver, John Barragan, 38, 200 block of St. Andrews Drive, DeKalb, was charged with failure to yield, police said.
Two bronze lawn ornaments resembling Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were stolen from a home in the 2100 block of Fargo Boulevard, Geneva police said. The theft of the 1-foot tall statues occurred between 2 p.m. Sept. 8 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10. The loss was estimated at $100.
A business in the 900 block of Harvey Road, near Oswego, reported Wednesday that someone broke windows on two trucks between 4 p.m. Sept. 5 and 5 p.m. Sept. 6, the sheriff’s office said Friday. Total loss was $1,300.
Eve Latino, 77, 1200 block of Tannery Ridge Road, Elgin, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, aggravated assault, resisting a peace officer and improper lane use at 5:48 p.m. Thursday near Maple and Douglas streets, police said.
A Sandwich woman was injured in a crash involving a semitrailer at 8:27 a.m. Saturday on Galena and Creek in Little Rock Township, sheriff’s deputies said. Samantha Wyszynski, 23, 4100 block of River Ridge Lane, Sandwich, was westbound on Galena when she crossed the center line and struck the rear of the semi eastbound, police said. Wyszynski was flown by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with “incapacitating” injuries, police said. She was charged with improper lane use, police said. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
Two teenagers were charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana after their vehicle was stopped for speeding 87 miles an hour in a 55 mph zone at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of Route 47 and Fairfax Road, sheriff’s deputies said. The driver also was charged with speeding, while the passenger was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The youths, ages 17 and 16, were from Crown Point, Ind.
Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday at Route 30 and Dickson Road in Bristol Township, sheriff’s deputies said. Jessica L. Klima, 34, 3300 block of Silver City Court, Montgomery, was charged with failure to yield while turning left. Klima was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. A 70-year-old woman from Montgomery was a driver of another vehicle and also was taken to the same hospital. A 58-year-old Yorkville man was not hurt.
