AURORA — For the first time, residents who want to volunteer for Fiestas Patrias Aurora will need to attend a volunteer training session.
The training session will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the East Aurora High School auditorium, Fifth Avenue and Smith Boulevard.
Representatives from the mayor’s office and the police and fire departments will take part in the training program.
Jerry Campagna, interim executive director of the Aurora Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, said he expects a minimum of 120 volunteers at the training session.
The Chamber estimates 12,000 Latinos will attend Fiestas Patrias this year. The festival, hosted by the Aurora Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will be Sept. 14-16 at North River Street Park at New York and River streets.
Anyone interested in volunteering at Fiestas Patrias is asked to contact Tony Martinez at 630-697-7528.
Vendors and exhibitors interested in the event can call Karina Garcia at 331-442-1617.
