Farmers market in Aurora set to move across street

AURORA — Aurora’s Saturday Farmers Market will be moving across-the-street from its current site for at least the next two weeks.
Beginning Aug. 4, the market will be held at North River Street Park at River and Cedar streets across from its current location at Wilder Promenade, 350 N. River St., city officials said Thursday.
The change is being made because of the market’s increasing popularity, officials said. Aside from additional space to house the more than 45 vendors participating each week, the restaging means expanded parking for patrons alongside the market.
The city said it received input from vendors and patrons who said the market needed more room.
The market will be at its new location on Saturday and Aug. 11, but will move back to the Wilder Promenade Aug. 18 because of the final Downtown Alive! music festival, which will be held at North River Street Park.
Officials said staging the market at the trial location for two weeks will allow them to evaluate the switch and get feedback from vendors and patrons.
The market, marking its 100th year in Aurora, is open from 7:30 a.m. until noon Saturdays.
