OSWEGO — School District Superintendent Dan O’Donnell has submitted a letter of resignation to the Oswego School Board.
Board President Bill Walsh said the board received the resignation letter, but would not discuss its contents, other than indicating that O’Donnell would at least stay through the end of the school year.
“Dr. O’Donnell is a professional and wouldn’t upset operations in the middle of the school year,” Walsh Wednesday.
He said the board would reserve further comment until Monday.
“A vote hasn’t been taken to accept it yet,” said Walsh. “We’ll have more of a statement then.”
After the vote, the board will determine its next steps in hiring a new superintendent.
O’Donnell has been the superintendent of the Oswego School District since 2009. Before his appointment, he served as the superintendent of districts in Missouri. He started his education career as a band and choir teacher, and over his career has served as a coach, principal and associate superintendent.
O’Donnell could not be reached for comment.
